Good looking; Sturdy & extremely well made
This is my 2nd Dakine bag, the 1st being a standard NON ROLLING board bag used for skis and the high quality is just as good. Got the RED "port royale" bag for easy identification in a sea of black bags. This bag will be used for skis and there is enough room for the ski boots too. There is a removable internal boot bag large enough for a pair of ski boots - snowboard boots would easily fit as they are less bulky and are soft relative to hard plastic ski boots Room for ski boots eliminates the need for a boot bag, one less bag to lug around. the 2 large external compartments could be useful for items you would not mind the baggage handlers stealing . I would not use them for this reason. The bag has 3 handles = one at each end, including the roller end plus a center handle so should be easy to move around. Much appreciated is the internal tie down straps to keep the board from moving around. Since it is only a single strap that spans the bag width, it is not as effective for skis but does help considerably The tie down strap also keeps the bag from sagging when rolling as the skis will act as a back structural element. HOWEVER, my skis are 157 cm long and the bag fits 175 cm boards/skis so there is an extra 18 cm (7 inches) which allows the bag to sag at the top and for the bottom of the roller end of the bag to drag slightly on the ground. FORTUNATELY, there are long hard plastic runners on the bottom of the bag at the roller end to mitigate scrapping damage. SUMMARY - a roomy well built bag.
