Significant improvement over Shift version 1.0
I've been using the Shift 13 version 1.0 for a few years now and really like the concept. Whether it's slackcountry laps, a week at a backcountry lodge, or a day cat or heli-skiing, the work well. With 2 exceptions. 1. the AFD plate seems to lower over a day or two, and if you aren't very diligent it can lead to pre-release, and 2. if you scrape the snow off the bottom of your boot on the toepiece, it can switch from ski to tour mode by mistake. Anyways, when I bought my Salomon QST X, I splurged on the Shift2. Now that I've had some slackcountry laps, I can say it feels more solid, and I haven't had a single pre-release. It's great going up, even if it is a few grams heavier, but it's a small price to pay for the no-comprise downhill ability - which far surpasses any locked in pin binding. Thanks again to Campbell and Chris - as always very helpful and knowledgeable.
